On Monday, The WH released a statement to inform the public that First Lady Melania had kidney surgery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington DC and would remain there for at least another week.

‘This morning, First Lady Melania Trump underwent an embolization procedure to treat a benign kidney condition. The procedure was successful and there were no complications. Mrs. Trump is at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and will likely remain there for the duration of the week. The First Lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere.’ The communications director, Stephanie Grisham, said in a statement.

However, it didn’t take long for many people who don’t like President Trump and his family to attack him on the social media.

Amy Siskind, president of The New Agenda, an organization ‘dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls’ — attacked the President for not being with his wife during the surgery.

‘First Lady Melania Trump had surgery today, but @realDonaldTrump didn’t come with her because of his busy Monday schedule.’

David Leavitt, a ‘freelance writer,’ according to his Twitter bio, tweeted:

‘I wish Melania Trump a swift and complete recovery so she can file for divorce against the lying cheating scumbag.’

I bet that @realDonaldTrump would have been at Melania’s surgery if it was at one of his golf courses.’ Leavitt added.

Then, the President wrote his first tweet after Melania’s surgery announcement and sparked criticism for not mentioning his wife.

‘First tweet after news breaks that Melania Trump had surgery today is about ZTE.’

Kate Bennet, CNN White House reporter, pointed out that Melania was able to hide the major news from the press without a single leak, in contrast to President Trump, who has had constant issues with staffers leaking:

‘Having covered @FLOTUS and her world for more than a year, it is not surprising to me that her office has pulled off something as major as this news without a leak — it’s interesting to think of this juxtaposed with the situation in the West Wing.’

President Trump was apparently quite upset with the attacks addressed to him, so he pointed out in one of his tweets that he would ‘find out who they are!’:

‘The so-called leaks coming out of the White House are a massive over exaggeration put out by the Fake News Media in order to make us look as bad as possible. With that being said, leakers are traitors and cowards, and we will find out who they are!’

Eventually, the President put it to rest when he tweeted that ‘he was on his way to the hospital to see his wife’:

‘Heading over to Walter Reed Medical Center to see our great First Lady, Melania. Successful procedure, she is in good spirits. Thank you to all of the well-wishers!’
