Democrat Senator Chris Coons appeared on Fox News Sunday morning and made the provocative claims that confirming Trump’s SCOTUS nominee Amy Coney Barrett “constitutes court-packing.”
Sen. Coons also called Amy Coney Barrett’s views “disqualifying.”
Coons told Wallace “I’m going to be laying out the ways in which Judge Barrett’s views … are not just extreme, they’re disqualifying.”
“It constitutes court-packing,” he added.
The term “court packing” has traditionally referred to adding new seats to the SCOTUS, not filling open vacancies.
Republican Senator Ben Sasse fired back, explaining “claiming that court-packing is filling open vacancies that obviously isn’t what court-packing means.”
