Kamala Blames Trump For Virus Unemployment, Forgets Dem Lockdowns That Forced Many Businesses To Shut Down

“Millions of Americans” wouldn’t be out of work if it were not for President Donald Trump, claimed Kamala Harris during her first public remarks after Joe Biden chose her as his running mate.

“This virus has impacted almost every country, but there’s a reason it has hit America worse than any other advanced nation,” the California senator said during her Wednesday speech in Wilmington, Delaware.

“It’s because of Trump’s failure to take it seriously from the start,” she added.

“Trump is also the reason millions of Americans are now unemployed,” Kamala Harris continued.

“He inherited the longest economic expansion in American history from Barack Obama and Joe Biden. And then, like everything else he inherited, he drove it into the ground.”

The coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown policies implemented by state governments meant to stop its spread has caused the largest drop in GDP since the Great Depression.

The unemployment rate currently sits at 10.2%, down from a high of over 14% but nowhere near the below 4% at the start of the year.

Kamala Harris pitched Joe Biden as the candidate of “empathy” and “compassion,” whose own life experiences have prepared him to tackle the coronavirus pandemic, which has left over 150,000 dead and millions more ill.

“Today, he takes his place in the ongoing story of America’s march toward equality and justice as the only one who has served alongside the first black president and has chosen the first black woman as his running mate,” she said.
