“Leave It Alone, People Died” – Benghazi Mom Shuts Down Yovanovitch for Comparing Herself To Benghazi Victims

Former ambassador Maria Yovanovitch was one of the witnesses joining the impeachment hearing who Democrats put on to use for emotional effect. MSNBC even discussed Democrats using her for that very purpose, as a possible strategy for them to make more people interested in what they were selling.

Yovanovitch hadn’t heard the July 25 Ukraine call, she was fired long before it happened and had no knowledge of it. So there was no real point other than they thought she might sell that President Trump was a mean boss for firing her, despite the fact that an ambassador serves at the pleasure of the president.

The President can fire her for any reason or no reason, especially given she was an Obama-holdover appointee.

But Yovanovitch may have oversold her part a bit, comparing herself to those who served and died in Benghazi.

“We are the 52 Americans who 40 years ago this month began 444 days of deprivation, torture and captivity in Tehran, we are the dozens of Americans stationed at out embassy in Cuba and consulates in China who mysteriously and dangerously … were injured attacked,” Yovanovitch said.

“We are Chris Stevens, Sean Patrick Smith, Ty Woods, and Glen Doherty,” she continued. “Who people rightly called heroes for their ultimate sacrifice to this nation’s foreign policy interests in Libya eight years ago. We honor these individuals.”

Actually, no. She was fired because the president thought she was not in line with his policy in the region. Also, she wasn’t held hostage for 444 days and she wasn’t killed because the Obama administration (and Hillary Clinton) failed to provide proper security, failed to help while they were under attack for 13 hours and then lied about it in the aftermath.

Pretty disturbing to invoke the dead for political points and you don’t get to cloak yourself with them to avoid criticism.

Patricia Smith, Sean Smith’s mom, was having none of this. She appeared on “The Ingraham Angle” and blasted Yovanovitch.

“He’s dead. He’s dead, and they don’t care,” a visibly emotional Smith said of her son’s death. “And now she’s worried — I can’t talk very well right now. I’m quite upset about this. I don’t know why people keep bringing Benghazi into this. She had nothing to do with Benghazi.”

Fox News’ Laura Ingraham also criticized Yovanovitch’s mention of the attack. She pointed out that the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine now works a seemingly low-risk job at Georgetown University.

“Because you served your country in Ukraine doesn’t mean that you can kind of compare yourself to the heroes at Benghazi,” Ingraham said.

Smith concluded: “Leave it alone. I mean people died.”

Smith previously called out former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for lying to her and other families about the “internet video” being the cause of the Benghazi attack, despite knowing it was an Al Qaeda attack.

When Hillary Clinton was asked about the families who said what she had told them, she them implied they were not telling the truth or were mistaken.
