Matt Gaetz Ends Megan Rapinoe’s Revolt With Bill Requiring US Soccer To Stand For National Anthem Or Face Financial Repercussions

“If players are playing for our national team, they should stand for the anthem, they should respect our flag,” Rep. Matt Gaetz stated announcing his move to mandate standing for the national anthem for US Soccer.

US Soccer caved under pressure from Megan Rapinoe and the other malcontents and stated that taking a knee during the national anthem was fine.

Matt’s staff issued a press release announcing the move: “Congressman Gaetz revealed on his podcast “Hot Takes with Matt Gaetz” today that he is drafting legislation compelling US Soccer to reverse the decision they made repealing Policy 604-1, which requires players to stand for the national anthem.”

“Today the news has me triggered,” Gaetz says, “The US Soccer Board of Directors voted yesterday to repeal Policy 604-1, which required our players to stand during the national anthem.”

He was just shocked. “I just could not believe this when I saw it. This is the US National Soccer Team, making the decision that the soccer players who play underneath our flag, do not have to stand for it, as it is being presented.”

“I don’t like soccer enough, for the US to even have a soccer team, if that soccer team is going to disrespect our anthem and our flag,” Gaetz declares. “It is not like some essential thing that we have to have, if latched to the US Soccer Team is this sense of such extreme wokeness that we cannot be proud of the United States while wearing the uniform of the United States.”

Gaetz differentiates this controversy from the NFL allowing players to kneel during games. “I think this is very distinct from the NFL player kneeling thing, because as much as I oppose that and don’t like it . . . At least those are private people, working for a private company . . . who absolutely have the first amendment right, to do whatever the heck they want to do, so long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else.”

“I certainly think that we have the right to compel that our national team stand for the national anthem,” Gaetz continues. “While our anthem is playing, while you serve on the team, I think there is an obligation to respect our country.”

“In the coming days, I will be introducing legislation to compel US Soccer to reverse the decision they made, to repeal Policy 604-1. If players are playing for our national team, they should respect the honor that that bestows, they should stand for the anthem, they should respect our flag,” Gaetz revealed. “If we love America, we would expect and deserve and demand, no less.”

Matt Gaetz is expected to announce details of the legislation on Judge Jeanine’s television show, “Justice with Judge Jeanine” Saturday, June 13th.
