Schumer Says He Had “Long & Serious Talk” with Sen. Feinstein After She Complimented Lindsey Graham

After Senator Feinstein enraged progressive groups by being cordial to Lindsey Graham, complimenting him and giving him a hug, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said he had a “long and serious talk” with her.

“I’ve had a long and serious talk with Sen. Feinstein and that’s all I’ll say about it right now,” Schumer said at a press conference.

Many Democrats were furious as Feinstein for thanking Lindsey Graham for “one of the best set of hearings” she’s been a part of.

“I just want to thank you, this has been one of the best set of hearings that I’ve participated in and I want to thank you for your fairness and the opportunity of going back and forth,” Feinstein told Graham.

“It leaves one with a lot of hopes, a lot of questions and even some ideas perhaps of good bipartisan legislation we can put together to make this great country even better,” she added.

Demand Justice, a progressive judicial advocacy group spoke out against Feinstein being cordial and gracious with Graham.

The group’s executive director Brian Fallon told the Huffington Post “it’s time for Sen. Feinstein to step down from her leadership position on the Senate Judiciary Committee. If she won’t, her colleagues need to intervene.”

He added “she has undercut Dems’ position at every step of this process, from undermining calls for filibuster and Court reform … to thanking Republicans for the most egregious partisan power grab in the modern history of the Supreme Court.”

During one exchange with Judge Amy Coney Barrett, Feinstein replied “That’s quite a definition, i’m really impressed. Thank you.”

Earlier today, Senator Schumer and the Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats held a press briefing.

Judge Amy Coney Barrett is set for final confirmation vote Monday.

Democrats boycotted today’s Senate Judiciary Committee vote.
