HUD Takes Measures To Prevent Illegal Immigrants From Using Taxpayer-Funded Public Housing: ‘We’ve Got Our Own People To House’

Trump’s administration is taking the first steps to prevent illegal immigrant families from living in public housing to free up space for American citizens currently on the waiting lists.

The Washington Times reported that the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) says that around 32,000 families living in public housing are held by undocumented adults.

Housing and Urban Development officials notified the Congress that the department is researching methods that would close loopholes allowing illegal immigrant families to hold down taxpayer-funded housing while Americans sit on housing waiting lists. Currently, a Clinton-era rule allows anyone to file for public housing without disclosing their legal status in America.

This rule change in pending, would force families that are living in public housing to verify their U.S. citizenship by being crosschecked against the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) database — a system that is currently used to prevent illegal immigrants from collecting other forms of welfare.

In addition, the Clinton-era rules are allowing families to stay in public housing as long as one member of the family is an American citizen, even if that person is a newborn. The Trump administration policy change would require that the head of the family is a legal U.S. citizen.

A HUD official policy change to the Washington Times, stating: “We’ve got our own people to house and need to take care of our citizens. Because of past loopholes in HUD guidance, illegal aliens were able to live in free public housing desperately needed by so many of our own citizens. As illegal aliens attempt to swarm our borders, we’re sending the message that you can’t live off of American welfare on the taxpayers’ dime.”

Affordable housing is at a crisis level in many American cities, including New York City, Nashville, and Charlotte.

So far, these are HUD’s first steps in implementing this rule change by notifying Congress. They still have to open the policy up for review and public comment, as the implementation would take place in late summer, at the earliest, under the direction of Secretary Ben Carson.

Open Borders Mayor Bill De Blasio Claims He Will Sue President Trump If He Ships Illegal Immigrants To His Doorstep

New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio is ready to take President Trump to court if he ships thousands of illegal immigrants to his doorstep.

The Democrat mayor who has touted New York City as a “sanctuary city” decided not to joining his liberal colleagues across America in opening their arms to potentially thousands of illegal immigrants who are currently overwhelming Customs and Border Protection facilities.

“It’s illegal. It is just plain illegal. We will meet him in court. We will beat him in court,” de Blasio claimed Monday, according to the New York Post.

“I remember vividly the day the Trump administration, when he said he was going to cut our security funding because we did not ask for documentation status, because we would not cooperate with everything ICE was doing,” the progressive mayor said. “We said we would go to court to stop it and we did.”

His comments were in response to a post by President Trump earlier on Monday about transporting the detained migrants to so-called sanctuary cities.

“Those Illegal Immigrants who can no longer be legally held (Congress must fix the laws and loopholes) will be, subject to Homeland Security, given to Sanctuary Cities and States!” tweeted Trump.

Trump appeared to confirm a report from last week that his administration had attempted to alleviate crowding at detention centers by releasing detained illegal immigrants into “sanctuary cities,” and his suggestion that the proposal was still valid enraged liberals through out the country.

Democrat mayors of many cities in America challenged President Trump to bring it on, even if Bill De Blasio threatened with a lawsuit.

Many “sanctuary cities” including Los Angeles, Cambridge, Massachusetts, Burlington, Vermont, Portland, Oregon, and Hartford, Connecticut also put out their welcome mats. But New York City’s de Blasio accused the President of using illegal immigrants as “chess pieces” as he threatened to sue the administration over the proposed policy.

WH Chief of Staff Tears Into Democrats: ‘Mexico Has Done More’ Than The Dems To Stop Illegal Immigration Crisis

Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney slammed Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats for their inaction on the southern border crisis, claiming that Mexico has “done more” than them to prevent illegal immigration into our country.

Mulvaney appeared in an interview with “Fox News Sunday” host Bill Hemmer and explained that Mexico has stepped up to help restrain the flow of illegal immigrants from Central America into America by throwing up roadblocks on their passage through the country.

Mulvaney explained that from the steps taken in the past week one can easily suggest that there was more effort from Mexico than the Democrats to prevent the immigrant flow at the southern border.

“In the last week, Mexico really has stepped it up for the very first time. They’re preventing people from coming in on their own southern border down towards Guatemala and Honduras and they’re also accepting more of the folks that cross into the United States back into Mexico.”

“In fact — and I know it’s hard to imagine — but again, Nancy Pelosi runs the Democrats in Congress. Mexico has done more in the last week to help our illegal immigration crisis than Nancy Pelosi and Democrats in the House.” said Mulvaney.

Mulvaney also explained that illegal immigration has been the President’s “number one” issue since entering the White House, despite resistance from the Dems after they gained control of the House at the start of the year.

As Mulvaney stated, President Trump cares about other issues, but the security of the country must come before addressing many other issues, like health care.

“This is his number one priority. Keep in mind, dealing with health care is nice, dealing with the economy is nice. The president’s first responsibility is to defend the integrity and safety of the nation. And we really do believe — and I think, again, most folks are starting to agree with us now — that the situation at the border is a national security crisis.” said Mulvaney.

Last week, President Trump rolled back on his threat to completely close the border with Mexico after he saw them responding to the migrant crisis, however, he has left the option of adding tariffs onto Mexican goods, should the situation change.

Nearly 300 Arrested In Surprise ICE Operation At Texas Tech Company

Nearly 300 workers were arrested after Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials raided a tech company in Allen, Texas, on Wednesday.

The operation took place at CVE Technology Group, a company that repairs cell phones and electronics. The building is located on Enterprise Drive, near the Central Expressway.

280 CVE employees were arrested in total for administrative immigration violations. They will be interviewed by ICE officials to determine who will remain in custody and who will qualify for humanitarian release.

“As far as immigration related arrests, this is the largest ICE worksite operation at one site in the last 10 years,” said Special Agent in Charge Katrina W. Berger, HSI Dallas.

Officials stated that the investigation began back in January after ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations received a tip that the Allen-based company was knowingly hiring undocumented immigrants who were using fraudulent documents.

“As far as immigration arrests, this is the largest at one site in 10 years,” said Katrina Berger, Special Agent in Charge with HSI Dallas.

Mariela Ortega was one of the workers, she has documentation to work in the United States legally and was cleared by the ICE agents Wednesday. Mariela was inside the business when hundreds of agents stormed in.

“People say, ‘Immigration! Immigration!’” Mariela Ortega recalled. “And all coworkers started running.”

DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen Claims Border Smugglers Are Operating ‘Child Recycling Rings’

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen explained Tuesday how human smugglers are operating “child recycling rings” to thwart United States Customs and Border Protection.

During her appearance on Fox News’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Nielsen spoke about the escalating border crisis that is presenting new problems and demanding a variety of defensive measures.

The DHS secretary claimed that human “smugglers are more active than ever before” at our southern border and they have come up with a new tactic to promote illegal immigration.

“We’ve broken up child recycling rings — if you can believe it — in the last couple of months, which is where smugglers pick up a child, they give it to adults to present themselves as a family once they get over — because, as you know, we can only hold families for 20 days — they send the child back and bring the child back with another family. Another fake family” she explained.

She also stated that President Trump “will take ever action within his authority to stop this flow.” Nielsen has previously discussed the child recycling rings in a report for the Daily Caller back in March.

The DHS secretary described the majority of the illegals that are claiming asylum at the border as “economic refugees” as she reminded viewers that crossing the United States border illegally “is a crime.”

Nielsen stated that the Trump administration is considering remedies like closing the southern border and revoking birthright citizenship: “All of this is on the table,” she told Fox.

The secretary also criticized “a lot of court decisions” that she claims do not fully comprehend the border crisis, which she said, “In my opinion, right now, this is one of, if not the biggest, crisis this country has faced in a decade.”

Mick Mulvaney Praises Trump’s Foreign Aid Cuts: ‘If It Is Working so Well, Why Are the People Still Coming?’

White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney tore apart critics who said that cuts to the current level of foreign aid some Central American countries could tamper the migrant crisis the United States faces at it’s border.

Mulvany defended the President’s decision to cut foreign aid to Central American countries, including Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador, a move that has been widely criticized from the Dems and mainstream media.

People like Sen. Bob Menendez claimed the cuts could hurt the United States interests in the region, saying, “U.S. foreign assistance is not charity; it advances our strategic interests and funds initiatives that protect American citizens.”

Mulvaney appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” with host Jake Tapper and addressed the critics of the decision and questioned why they believe the current level of funding is actually helping our country’s interests at all.

“There’s a lot of good ways to help solve this problem [at the border]. Congress could do it, but they’re not going to. Mexico could help us do it, they need to do a little more. Honduras could do more. Nicaragua could do more. El Salvador could do more. And if we’re going to give these countries hundreds of millions of dollars, we would like them to do more.” he said.

Mulvaney stated that it’s not an “unreasonable position” for the Trump administration to want to see more of an effort from Central America to address and fix their own issues.

“We could prevent a lot of what’s happening at the southern border by preventing people from moving into Mexico in the first place,” Mulvaney argued.

Host Tapper also urged that foreign aid in Central America does help to keep people migrating at all by boosting regional stability, but Mulvaney pushed back on that point.

“If it’s working so well, why are the people still coming?” asked Mulvaney. “Why are these historic numbers? Again, 100,000 people will cross the border this month alone. That is a crisis. It’s a humanitarian crisis; it’s a security crisis.”

Mulvaney pointed to recent numbers released by the Department of Homeland Security, outlining the spike in apprehensions at our southern border.

The White House chief of staff explained that many of the same people criticizing the decision to cut foreign aid thought the White House was “exaggerating” the problem at the border just few months ago during the government shutdown.

DHS Officials Are Warning That An ‘Illegal Immigration Superhighway’ Has Formed in Mexico & Could Bring Caravan Of 20,000 Migrants

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) continues to alarm the public about the crisis at the southern border, a crisis that now includes an “illegal immigrant superhighway” that could wreak havoc for United States immigration officials and their very limited resources.

DHS previously stated that more than 100,000 migrants were apprehended in March alone. But because the detention centers used by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are at full capacity, Border Patrol was forced to release many thousands of immigrants into the United States.

The immigrants that’re not released on our soil are kept in ICE facilities where they often receive medical treatment. As many as 2,000 migrants receive medical attention per month, immigration officials reported.

The influx of immigrant families in March put a big strain on resources at our southern border, but it does not look like immigration officials are going to catch a break anytime soon.

One senior DHS official stated that immigrants have been barreling through Mexico from many Central American countries en route to the United States, telling the Washington Times, “The result is an illegal immigration superhighway that’s flowing through Mexico.”

Mexican officials echoed that sentiment, noting that a new caravan of around 20,000 immigrants is currently on its way to their north border.

This “superhighway” is one of the most important reasons the President announced foreign aid cuts to Central America for putting forward more effort to deter immigrants. White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney stated that he wants to see more effort put forward by these countries to help the United States address the crisis at the border.

“There’s a lot of good ways to help solve this problem [at the border]. Congress could do it, but they’re not going to. Mexico could help us do it, they need to do a little more. Honduras could do more. Nicaragua could do more. El Salvador could do more. And if we’re going to give these countries hundreds of millions of dollars, we would like them to do more.”

On Monday morning, President Donald Trump made a similar call to Democrats on Twitter, asking them to work with Republicans to reform the asylum process in the United States so that migrants are not just released into the country when detention facilities reach capacity.

Other Republicans echoed President Donald Trump’s points, calling for Democrats to take a serious look at our southern border and make the right decision.

Los Angeles Police Officer Arrested After Allegedly Trying to Smuggle Illegal Immigrants Across Border

LAPD Officer has been arrested and federally charged after allegedly trying to smuggle two people through an immigration checkpoint in Southern California.

Mambasse Koulabalo Patara is the police officer from Los Angeles Police Department, who will be faced with violating immigration laws after a federal complaint was filed against him on Wednesday.

Patara was arrested Tuesday morning at the U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint in Pine Valley, located about 12 miles north of the border crossing between the U.S and Mexico.

Mambasse Koulabalo Patara drove up to the checkpoint with 2 male passengers in a 2006 Toyota Corolla at 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the federal complaint.

While the Border Patrol agents interviewed Patara, he showed them his LAPD badge and told that he was off-duty, the federal complaint states. After the agents patted him down, they found his service-issued gun on his waistband, according to the complaint.

Patara reportedly said to the border agents that his two passengers were citizens of the U.S. But both of the passengers identified as Herman Lopez and his nephew German Ramirez Gonzalez admitted that they were in the country illegally.

All three of them were transported to the Campo Border Patrol Station and arrested the same day.

The people from his neighbourhood in Fontana, were in disbelief.

‘I heard what happened, and I’m really shocked,’ said one woman. ‘They’ve always just been a really nice family ever since my husband and I have lived here. […] There are always multiple sides to every story, so I think that’s important for everyone to keep in mind […] before jumping to conclusions on these types of things.’

‘I just don’t believe that he’s doing that. I don’t believe at all that he’s capable of doing something like that.’ Another neighbour told CBS2.

Patara has been placed on paid administrative leave, an LAPD spokesperson confirmed to CBS2.

If he is convicted, Patara will face up to five years in prison.
