Tom Cotton is an impressive man with an immpresive resume. Born to middle-class parents in Arkansas he got to the top the hard way, by working his tail off.
As Cotton was to benefit from his hard work at all the top schools in America he did the unthinkable and joined the Army. Because of his Harvard law degree, they wanted him in JAG but he said no and joined the infantry.
Tom Cotton attended Harvard University as an undergraduate, and later returned to Harvard Law School, graduating in 2002. After that, he worked for Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. In 2005, he enlisted in the U.S. Army.
On January 11, 2005, Tom Cotton enlisted in the army. He declined offers to serve in the Army J.A.G. Corps and instead volunteered for the infantry. Cotton had resolved to serve as an Army infantryman in his third year of law school while watching live news coverage of the 9/11 attacks, and had begun a regimen of physical exercise and studying military history. In March 2005, he entered Officer Candidate School, and later in June was commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Infantry.
In May 2006, Tom Cotton was deployed to Baghdad as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a platoon leader with the 101st Airborne Division. In Iraq, he led a 41-man air assault infantry platoon in the 506th Infantry Regiment, and planned and performed daily combat patrols. In December 2006, he was promoted to First Lieutenant. He was assigned as a platoon leader for the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment at Arlington National Cemetery in Northern Virginia.
In October 2008, Tom was deployed to Afghanistan. Cotton was assigned within the Train Advise Assist Command – East at its Gamberi forward operating base in Laghman Province as the Operations Officer of a Provincial Reconstruction Team, where he planned daily counter-insurgency and reconstruction operations. His deployment ended on July 20, 2009 so he returned from Afghanistan. He then returned to farming at his family ranch.
In July 2010, Tom Cotton transferred to the Army Reserve. His military record shows his final discharge from the Army Reserve was in May 2013. Cotton was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and earned a Ranger Tab, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Air Assault Badge, and Iraq Campaign Medal.
As you can see, Tom Cotton is not your average weak, know nothing politician. He is an America hero, smarter than your average liberal.
That is exactly why leftists hate him that much. He went to all the top schools that they believe should only breed left-leaning individuals, but Tom went into the lion’s den and came out the winner.
Cotton can throw their arrogance right back at them when they question Trump’s and America’s decisions. We are by far the most generous nation in the history of the world and questioning that is a great disrespect.
The Free Beacon reported that Sen. Tom Cotton applauded President Trump’s proclamation concerning asylum for immigrants who illegally cross the Mexican border into America.
“I applaud the administration’s efforts to fix our broken asylum system. Individuals with valid asylum claims should apply in their home countries or a safe third country, not by showing up at our border. We will not let anyone take advantage of America’s generosity by exploiting loopholes in our immigration system. Congress should also act to codify these common-sense reforms,” Sen. Cotton said in a statement.
