Today President Trump made history by stepping onto North Korean soil. It’s still hard to say what will happen, but meeting and discussing things are far better than bombing and aggression.
As usual, this meant nothing to Jim Acosta, as he was up to his old tricks with President Trump during a recent news conference. President Trump didn’t let that slide and shot down Acosta with a crack about his new book.
Acosta put the President on the spot when he asked if he ignored a question about the death of Jamal Khashoggi during a meeting with Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman because he was afraid of offending MBS.
“Yes, if I could follow up on the question about your comments with Vladimir Putin about Russian meddling. You did seem to be joking there with the Russian President. Are we taking that to be wrong? And what is it with your coziness with some of these dictators and autocrats at these summits?”
“With Mohammad bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, when you are asked about the case of Jamal Khashoggi, you did that question in front — are you afraid of offending him on that subject?” Acosta asked.
“No, not at all,” President Trump said. “I don’t really care about offending people, I sort of thought you’d know that.”
President Trump then flipped the script. “By the way, congratulations, I understand your book, is it doing well?”
“It’s doing very well, Mr. President,” Jim Acosta claimed.
The President seemed astonished by his response. “Really?”
“I’ll get you an autographed copy,” Jim Acosta offered.
Truth be told, Jim Acosta’s book isn’t doing very well. It is in the 1300s on Amazon. He was previously zinged on the lagging sales by Fox News host Sean Hannity, who called the book “a disaster” and “epic fail,” in another dust-up.
