White House Petition To “Impeach Nancy Pelosi For Treason” Goes Viral With More Than Quarter Of a Million Signatures

A petition filed on the White House website “We, the People” to “impeach Nancy Pelosi for crimes of treason” has gone viral, accumulating more than 260,000 signatures.

The petition was created on Jan. 18, 2019, and it urges Congress to remove the speaker of the House arguing that she is “a traitor!” for “adhering to the enemies” of the country: The “illegal aliens who invade our country with drugs, human trafficking” and the “terrorists causing death and crime to American citizens.”

“Nancy Pelosi adheres to these enemies by voting for and providing them aid and comfort through Sanctuary policies funded by US citizen tax dollars, and refuses to protect American people by refusing to fund our border wall, leaving our borders open and unsafe,” reads the petition made by a Georgia woman named Marjorie Taylor Greene.

The petition gathered more than 130,000 signatures in no more than 12 days, surpassing by far the minimum that guarantees an “official response” from the government, as CNS News announced.

“With ‘We the People,’ you can easily create an online petition, share it and collect signatures,” explains the platform that the White House set up to make it easier for American citizens to claim by “becoming an agent of change.”

The website says that “if you gather 100,000 signature in 30 days, we’ll review your petition, make sure it gets in front of the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response.”

As reports say, the initiator of the petition, who once sent a copy of the document to Nancy Pelosi’s office, is still awaiting Washington’s response.

She also continues to encourage people to sign the petition against Nancy Pelosi taking advantage of the new accusations made by President Trump about the Democratic leader, for her alleged scheming in the attempt at impeachment that the opposition is currently orchestrating against him, based on an anonymous denunciation lacking solidity, The Bl News reported.

At this point, it should be noted that the U.S. Constitution defines that public officials may be removed by “impeachment,” or expelled from the Senate and House of Representatives by a two-thirds vote of the members of the chamber in question.

“Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behavior, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.”—Article 1, Section 5, Clause 2.

“The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”—Article 2, Section 4.

“The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.”—Article 1, Section 3, Clause 6.

“Pelosi refused to meet with Angel families, caused the government shut down then traveled on US dollars to Hawaii and Puerto Rico while 800,000 Fed workers don’t get paid, and uninvited Trump for SOTU,” Greene’s petition also said.
