Nancy Pelosi Claims That Democrats Never Said There Wasn’t a Crisis at The Border

With the southern border overwhelmed by illegal immigrants from Central America, resulting in a humanitarian crisis, Speaker Nancy Pelosi claims that the Democrat Party never denied that a crisis exists.

Pelosi was asked by a reported at her weekly press conference if, “after a number of months” of clamming that it was a manufactured crisis, Democrats are now willing to say there is an actual crisis at the border?

“Well, let me just say this. We’ve never not said that there was a crisis — there is a humanitarian crisis at the border, and some of it provoked by the actions taken by the administration,” Nancy Pelosi replied.

“So, what’s happening at the border is tragic, and we hope to address some of that in the supplemental that is coming, the disaster supplemental, to provide some of the resources that are needed there,” she added.

The California Democrat was sure to get her talking points in about how Trump’s administration is making things worse when they “take children out of the arms of their parents.”

This being the same program carried out under the Obama administration, as Nancy Pelosi sat idly by.

“But, yes, it is a crisis,” Pelosi added. “We’ve always said that it gets to be more of a humanitarian crisis the more that Republicans – the Administration, I won’t paint all the Republicans with this – the more the Administration acts in the shameful way, not consistent with our faith, with our beliefs that every person has dignity and worth.”

However, Nancy Pelosi stood right next to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in January as he dismissed President Trump’s Oval Office address on the government shut down that focused on border security.

Schumer claimed that it was an effort to “stoke fear” among Americans and accused Trump of playing up a “manufactured crisis.” Nancy Pelosi claimed President Trump “must stop holding the American people hostage, must stop manufacturing a crisis.”

“Most presidents have used Oval Office addresses for noble purposes,” said Schumer in the televised rebuttal. “This president just used the backdrop of the Oval Office to manufacture a crisis, stoke fear, and divert attention from the turmoil in his administration.”

House Republicans shared many more examples of Democrats claiming there is no crisis:

“There is no crisis.” – Majority Leader Steny Hoyer

“There is no crisis on the border.” – House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler

“I’m from the border, there’s no crisis there.”  – Rep. Henry Cuellar

Also, here you can read tweets from the Democratic National Committee from February that is clear on the matter. Period.
