Few days ago, Ted Cruz and Alyssa Milano had an epic Twitter battle about guns, God, and the constitution. Ted, of course, got the better of the actress in the exchange leading to an in-person meeting. Ted accepted Alyssa Milano’s challenge and they actually seemed to get along.
But it was what Alyssa Milano admitted to Cruz, that she has two guns in her house that she keeps for protection and she will not go without a fight.
Breitbart reported that the debate was held in Ted Cruz’s Capitol Hill office, where Alyssa Milano and Fred Guttenberg — whose 14-year-old daughter Jaime was killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida — pressed the senator on various gun control proposals.
Milano proposed universal background checks, restricting access to AR-15s, and background checks for bullet purchases.
“We all believe in the Second Amendment.” Despite that claim, she pleaded, “We have to try everything, and figure out what works. Isn’t that worth it?”
Guttenberg said he was offended by Ted Cruz’s argument that the gun controls would erode Americans’ rights to self-defense. “That’s a load of BS,” he said. “Nobody’s trying to remove your right to self-defense.”
“By the way,” Milano interjected, “I have two guns in my household for self-defense, just so you know.”
For those who missed out, here is a reminder of what Milano said during her recent Twitter battle with the Senator.
This is the quote that started the feud and Ted Cruz’s epic response below that. “Can someone cite which passage of the Bible God states it is a god-given right to own a gun?” Milano tweeted. “This guy is unbelievable and is clearly owned by the gun lobby. #NoRA”
Ted Cruz responded at the time: “An excellent Q, worth considering carefully w/o the snark of Twitter. It is of course not the right to a modern-day firearm that is God-give but rather the right to Life & the right to Liberty. Essential to that right to life is the right to DEFEND your life & your family.”
