On Thursday, “The View” co-host Joy Behar snapped at the show’s studio audience after they applauded guests Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle over their defense of President Trump.
“This is not a MAGA rally!” Joy Behar said, referring President Trump’s signature high-energy “Make America Great Again” rallies through the roar of studio applause.
Guilfoyle, 50, an attorney and political analyst who is dating the president’s eldest son, defended President Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian President Zelensky as being transparent and undeserving of the House Democrats’ pursuit of impeachment. Her defense was met with loud applause from the audience.
“The president of the United States released the transcript of exactly what happened in that phone call,” Kimberly Guilfoyle said. “The whistle-blower is giving his opinion, or her opinion, of what transpired.”
All the hosts criticized Trump Jr. for sharing an article that named the suspected whistle-blower as career intelligence employee Eric Ciaramella, thereby exposing his name to Trump Jr.’s large Twitter following.
Trump Jr. defended his position by noting that the article he shared had been posted on conservative news aggregator Drudge Report.
“I don’t think I should have to forego my First Amendment rights,” he said of sharing the article. “It’s out there. I read it in an article. I’ve been reading it for a week. I saw it on the Drudge Report.”
“Billions of people see Drudge a day,” the President’s son said, rejecting the notion that the article was not well-known when he shared it on social media.
Following robust applause to Trump Jr.’s remarks, Joy Behar directed her ire toward the studio audience, snapping, “This is not a MAGA rally!” before continuing the interview with Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle, who appeared on the show to promote the younger Trump’s book, Triggered.
