CNN’s Don Lemon Questioned Whether Kamala Harris Is An “African American” Woman

During an awkward contentious exchange from last year with April Ryan, CNN anchor Don Lemon questioned whether Joe Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris is an African American woman.

Lemon was quick to acknowledge Harris, who has a Jamaican father and Indian American mother, is a “black woman” but questioned the notion as to whether she is “African American.”

“There is a difference.” Lemon argued.

“There is nothing wrong with that. No one is trying to take anything away from her… . All she had to do was say, ‘I am Black but I’m not African American.”

Lemon further argued: “Jamaica is not America. Jamaica did not come out of Jim Crow. I’m just saying.”

While Don Lemon may not consider Harris an “African American” woman, the DNC is marketing her as exactly that, calling her “the second African American woman to be elected to the U.S. Senate in 2016.”
