Trump: “Astronauts complete first splashdown in 45 years. Very exciting!”

Nasa, Donald Trump and fellow astronauts have welcomed the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule after it successfully splashed down on Earth.

The safe landing brought a close to a two-month mission that sent astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley to the International Space Station, as the final test of the Crew Dragon capsule that SpaceX and Nasa hope to represent the future of spaceflight.

That initial launch was the first crewed liftoff on American soil for almost a decade. And their safe splashdown was the 1st to occur in 45 years.

The successful completion of that splashdown – and of the mission and the test that it brought to a close – was celebrated by everyone from the president to other space travelers.

“Great to have NASA Astronauts return to Earth after very successful two month mission,” the president tweeted, in the first of a series of tweets. “Thank you to all!

“Astronauts complete first splashdown in 45 years. Very exciting!”, he said.

Mr Trump then shared Nasa’s video of the splashdown.

Nasa administrator Jim Bridenstine wrote “We have SPLASHDOWN!” and congratulated the two astronauts on their successful mission.

Fellow space travelers also tweeted their joy at seeing the astronauts arrive safely back home.

“Fantastic to see SpaceX Dragon splashdown,” wrote British astronaut Tim Peake, before writing “welcome home” and tagging the members of the crew.

Scott Kelly – a space veteran who spent a year onboard the ISS, after serving in the US navy – congratulated the two astronauts in a tweet: “Welcome to the U.S. Navy!” he wrote.

Elon Musk, who owns SpaceX and had been intently live tweeting during the return, had not posted at the time of publication.

Dr. Birx Hits Back At Nancy Pelosi After She Trash-Talked Her

White House coronavirus task force member Dr. Deborah Birx hit back at both Nancy Pelosi and The New York Times for doubting her capabilities, telling a CNN host Sunday that she’s never before in her life been called “non-scientific, or non-data driven.”

The remarks came in response to Pelosi telling the hosts of ABC’s “The Week” earlier that day that she has “no” confidence in her.

“I think the president has been spreading disinformation about the virus, and she is his appointee so, I don’t have confidence there, no,” she’d said.

Pelosi’s trash-talking was reportedly based on a Times hit piece that had accused Birx of being too optimistic — i.e., “pollyannish” — about the virus.

Speaking with CNN host Dana Bash later that same day, Birx blasted both Pelosi and the Times, though she tried framing her response in a way designed to suggest the Times was the main culprit, not the speaker.

“I have tremendous respect for the speaker. I have respect for her long dedication to the American people, and I think it was unfortunate that The New York Times wrote this article without speaking to me. I could have brought forth the data. I provide data every single day with an analysis,” she began.

Note how she started by praising Pelosi and then jumped to slamming the Times.

“The day that they are talking about that I was ‘pollyannish,’ it said there was improvement in the New York metro, but ongoing cases in Boston and Chicago, a new outbreak in Houston and full logarithmic spread, and new, concerning outbreaks in Baltimore and New Haven and Washington, D.C.,” she continued.

“This was not a pollyannish view. I have never been called pollyannish or nonscientific or non-data driven, and I will stake my 40-year career on those fundamental principles of utilizing data to really implement better programs to save more lives.”

Pelosi’s trash-talking came 2 days after a report came out that she’d also trash-talked Birx during a closed-door meeting in her office Thursday evening with several Trump administration officials.

“Pelosi said to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows: ‘Deborah Birx is the worst. Wow, what horrible hands you’re in.’ She accused Birx of spreading disinformation about the coronavirus pandemic while praising Anthony Fauci, who she said ‘came to his senses, and is now a hero,’” Politico reported Friday.

That trash-talking was reportedly also based on the Times’ hit piece.

Speaking of dubious narratives that aren’t rooted in truth, during the same interview on CNN this Sunday, Bash accused the United States of having “failed so badly” at handling the coronavirus. She based the claim on the number of coronavirus cases.

“The U.S. recorded nearly 2 million new cases in July, the most cases of any month yet. So the United States is still averaging more than 60,000 cases and 1,000 deaths per day. … America is not even close to controlling this like other places — South Korea and the European Union, for example. So, Dr. Birx, why has the U.S. failed so badly at this?”

Birx responded by pointing out that every major metropolitan area is like its own country and has therefore experienced its own coronavirus curve.

But because of geographic and demographic differences, and asymptomatic spread, the start and end dates for their curves haven’t been the same. That’s why the idea that the U.S. as a whole has “failed so badly” makes little sense.

The point flew over Bash’s head.

“Doctor, you’re explaining what happened. The question that everybody out there has is why? Why did this happen? Why was the government particularly — I mean, you’re the coordinator for the federal response. Why weren’t you able to stop this from spreading and continuing to spread uncontrollably as it is now?” she said.

Birx attributed the continued spread to asymptomatic spreaders and cautioned this is why the administration has been promoting social distancing and mask-wearing.

“I hear, you but it’s clearly not working,” Bash replied.

“What we are seeing today is different from March and April. It is extraordinarily widespread. It’s into the rural as equal urban areas. And to everybody who lives in a rural area, you are not immune or protected from this virus, and that is why we keep saying, no matter where you live in America, you need to wear a mask and socially distance,” Birx replied.

Her point was that local peaks are occurring at different times because of geographic and demographic differences, as well as asymptomatic spread, which is why it’s fundamental that the American people follow the CDC’s guidelines.

WATCH: Watters, Juan, Gutfield React To Unsealed Documents That Strongly Suggest Bill Clinton Was On Epstein’s Island

During a recent episode of “The Five” hosts Juan Williams, Jesse Watters, and Greg Gutfield reacted to unsealed documents suggesting that former President Bill Clinton visited Jeffrey Epstein’s island.

Fox News reported that a trove of documents released Thursday could shed light on Ghislaine Maxwell’s relationship with late financier and Jeffrey Epstein.

The data include records of a 2011 meeting between accuser Virginia Giuffre and her lawyers where she talked about the powerful people in Epstein’s orbit who she said either flew on his private Boeing 727 or stayed on his private island in the Caribbean.

One of the names mentioned was that of Bill Clinton.

Maxwell’s lawyers had filed an emergency motion to stop the release of the new documents and have said the move would essentially eliminate any chance their client has at a fair trial. The lawyers stated that documents from a 2015 civil suit could “inappropriately influence potential witnesses or alleged victims.”

The newly released docs include a conversation that accuser Giuffre had with her lawyers nearly 10 years ago as part of her civil case against Maxwell in 2015.

At one point in the conversation, the subject turned to Epstein’s powerful friends. Jack Scarola, one of Giuffre’s lawyers, asked her if she had any recollection of Epstein telling her that Bill Clinton owed him “favors.”

“Yes I do,” she responded, according to the documents. “It was a laugh, though. He would laugh it off. You know, I remember asking Jeffrey [a] ‘What’s Bill Clinton doing here?’ kind of thing, and he laughed it off and said, ‘Well, he owes me a favor.’ He never told me what favors they were. I never knew. I didn’t know if he was serious. It was just a joke.”

The lawyer asked her to clarify what she was referring to when she mentioned Bill Clinton, and she said the former president was on the island. She said Maxwell was also there, as well as a person named “Emmy” and two young girls.

“And were all of you staying at Jeffrey’s house on the island, including Bill Clinton?” Scarola asked.

“That’s correct,” she responded. “He had about four or five different villas on his island separate from the main house, and we stayed in the villas.”

Giuffre said sex orgies were a common occurrence there. In previous interviews, she has said she never saw Clinton behave inappropriately. A Netflix documentary titled, “Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich,” includes an island tech worker’s account of once seeing Clinton at the villa — though only with Epstein.

Angel Urena, a spokeswoman for Clinton, told the New York Post at the time that, “This was a lie the first time it was told, and it isn’t true today, no matter how many times it’s repeated.”

Pelosi Helps Funnel $14,000 To Omar’s Campaign, As Ilhan Continues Funneling To Her Hubby

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi funneled $14,000 to Rep. Ilhan Omar’s campaign in late July as the Minnesota Democrat struggled with a well-funded primary challenge.

Federal Election Commission records released Thursday show that Nancy Pelosi transferred $10,000 from her PAC and an additional $4,000 from her campaign committee to Rep. Omar on July 22, one week after Pelosi endorsed Rep. Omar in her reelection bid.

The Minnesota Democrat is facing an expensive primary battle against attorney Antone Melton-Meaux, who outraised Rep. Omar significantly in the second quarter of 2020.

Melton-Meaux raked in $3.3 million between April and June to Omar’s $470,000. Included in the challenger’s donor list is Democratic Colorado governor Jared Polis, who gave $1,000 to Melton-Meaux’s campaign on July 27, as the Free Beacon reported.

The fundraising haul allowed Melton-Meaux to spend more than $1.7 million over the first 3 quarters of July. Meanwhile, Rep. Omar spent just $784,000.

More than $600,000 – 77% of those disbursements – went to a D.C.-based consulting firm run by Rep. Omar’s new husband.

Following his spending spree, Melton-Meaux holds $695,000 on hand, down from the $2 million he held at the end of the second quarter. Omar holds $732,000 on hand.

Rep. Omar did not respond to a request for comment.

The late push from Nancy Pelosi suggests genuine concern for Ilhan Omar, who has butted heads with the California Democrat in the past. Pelosi criticized her for using “deeply offensive” anti-Semitic tropes in February 2019 and condemned the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel, which Omar supports, a month later. Omar quickly hit back, saying, “a condemnation for people that want to exercise their First Amendment rights is beneath any leader.” Melton-Meaux has campaigned against Omar’s support for BDS.

While both Rep. Omar and Melton-Meaux have earned a number of prominent local endorsements, Melton-Meaux has outraised Omar within Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District. The Democratic challenger raised $273,000 from the district’s constituents in the second quarter, while Omar raised just $8,000.

Nancy Pelosi and Melton-Meaux also didn’t respond to a request for comment.

Tennessee Democrat Indicted On 48 Counts For Theft & Embezzlement Of Taxpayer Money

Tennessee State Senator Katrina Robinson has been charged with theft and embezzlement and if found guilty, she could be sentenced to 20 years behind bars in federal prison.

The Washington Examiner reported that Tennessee state Sen. Katrina Robinson was indicted for her alleged role in the theft and embezzlement of roughly $600,000 in federal taxpayer dollars.

On Thursday, the grand jury agreed that Robinson should face 24 counts for theft and 24 counts for wire fraud.

If found guilty, she could spend up to 20 years in jail and face a fine of up to $250,000.

“Anyone who seeks to take advantage of government programs will be vigorously investigated by the FBI, regardless of who they are or any position they hold,” said the FBI’s Acting Special Agent in Charge Jermicha Fomby.

“The public should know that the FBI will continue to work diligently with our law enforcement partners to identify and investigate those who seek to exploit government programs and line their own pockets.”

Robinson is the founder of a vocational school, The Healthcare Institute, in addition to her role as a state senator.

The Healthcare Institute raked in $2.2 million in federal grants to assist in its operations. Robinson was charged for taking approximately $600,000 for personal compensation, which is not allowed under the terms of the grants.

The lawmaker allegedly used the funds for expenses tied to her wedding and honeymoon, as well as to buy her daughter a new car. She also used the funds to pay for an event for her state senate campaign.

Largest Florida Police Union Endorses Trump Over Biden

The president of the largest police union in Florida appeared on “Fox & Friends” Friday to explain why they are supporting President Trump.

“We’re 30,000 strong. We go from the panhandle to Daytona, to Tampa down to Miami and the Keys,” said the president of the Florida Police Benevolent Association, John Kazanjian.

Kazanjian explained that the decision to support Trump started with his move last week to call for an “emergency meeting via conference phone” with all of the chapter and charter presidents and board of directors.

“I spelled it out on what’s going on not just in Florida but across this country that, ‘Hey, you know what, we’re getting beat up. We’re getting used like a punching bag and we’re tired of it and President Donald Trump has been there for us. He supported us.’”

Kazanjian remarks came after a Florida county-level union rescinded its endorsement of a Democratic candidate for the state legislature, in the wake of public statements where he called for police to be demilitarized and questioned the need for patrol officers to drive unmarked cars.

The Palm Beach County Police Benevolent Association, approx. 5,000 members, endorsed former prosecutor-turned-criminal attorney Michael Weinstein in his bid for a state House seat at the beginning of last month.

But after Weinstein completed a questionnaire with the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, which was published on June 26, the union changed its mind, Kazanjian told Fox News.

“When Michael Weinstein came to the Palm Beach County PBA seeking our endorsement, he expressed to us that he supported and respected the police and law enforcement in general,” Kazanjian said in a statement. “He never expressed the view that the police are militarized, that unmarked police cars caused distrust, or called for more civilian review boards, all of which he later said to the Sun-Sentinel to perhaps win their endorsement. Had we known he supported these drastic changes to policing, which we strongly oppose, we would have never endorsed him.”

Kazanjian said that after he voiced the idea of supporting Trump, his colleagues supported it “unanimously” in a vote. Kazanjian said that the vote “carried a lot of weight.”

“I got a motion to endorse President Donald Trump for this 2020 presidential election,” he said.

Kazanjian went on to say, “Not only the 30,000 votes that we had from the members in Florida. Don’t forget about our friends and families, retirees .. I believe the last cycle, we also put the president on top and guess what? We’re going to come out in force this time to put the president on top.”

Kazanjian said that he will meet with Trump to give him the endorsement letter later on Friday at the White House.

“I’m proud to do it.” – he added.

1st NBA Player Not To Kneel, Gives Perfect Response To Critics

Orlando Magic forward Jonathan Isaac stood out from his teammates Friday when he refused to kneel or wear a “Black Lives Matter” shirt while the national anthem played prior to a game against the Brooklyn Nets.

Isaac is the first player not to kneel for the anthem since the NBA season restarted Thursday. He stood with his hands behind his back while wearing his Magic jersey.

A person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press that his decision was not a surprise to his teammates and that he talked about it with them beforehand.

After the game, a 128-118 Magic win, Isaac, an ordained Christian minister, told reporters he “absolutely” believes black lives matter and said “a lot went into my decision.”

“Kneeling or wearing a Black Lives Matter T-shirt don’t go hand in hand with supporting black lives,” he said. “I do believe that black lives matter but I just felt like it was a decision that I had to make, and I didn’t feel like putting that shirt on and kneeling went hand in hand with supporting black lives.”

“My life has been supported through the gospel, Jesus Christ, everyone is made in the image of God and that we all fall short of God’s glory, and that each and every one of us each and every day do things that we shouldn’t do, we say things that we shouldn’t say, we hate and dislike people that we shouldn’t hate and dislike, and sometimes it gets to a point where we point fingers about whose evil is worse, and sometimes it comes down to simply whose evil is most visible,” Isaac said.

“We all make mistakes, but I think that the gospel of Jesus Christ is that there’s grace for us, and that Jesus came and died for our sins, and that we all will come to an understanding of that, and understand that God wants to have a relationship with us, that we can get past skin color, we can can get past all the things in our world that are messed up, jacked up.”

“When you look around, racism isn’t the only thing that afflicts our society, that plagues our nation, that plagues our world. I feel like coming together on that message that we want to get past not only racism but everything that plagues us as a society,” Isaac added.

“I feel like the answer to it is the gospel.”

WATCH: NHL’s Rangers And Islanders Stand Side By Side During National Anthem

The New York Rangers and Islanders decided to stand for the national anthem during Wednesday’s exhibition game ahead of the final portion of the NHL’s 2020 season.

Eric Trump took it to Twitter to thank the teams for standing during the anthem:

Ahead of the game, Islanders captain Anders Lee noted that the two teams discussed on what they should do for the national anthem.

“I’m sure we’ll be in touch with the Rangers and try to figure something out here, probably something similar,” Lee said on a Zoom call on Tuesday. “I think it’s awesome to see. It’s a great reason to come together as rivals and teams and show really the true importance of coming together and standing up for justice and what is right.”

As their social justice statement, the teams decided to stand together on the ice during the National Anthem instead of standing in lines as opposing teams.

The Islanders ended up winning the game 2-1.

US Seeks to Seize Bolton’s $2M Book Advance & Profits For Overstepping Clearance Policies

The U.S. government has asked a federal judge in Washington to seize the $2 million book advance and any profits paid to former Trump National Security Adviser John Bolton, who published a tell-all book about the Trump administration without clearing it first with the government for classified material.

The government said in a court filing Thursday that Bolton violated nondisclosure agreements when he published his memoir, The Room Where It Happened, without finishing a National Security Council (NSC) review process to make sure the book did not contain any material that could put U.S. national security at risk, according to Bloomberg.

The federal government initially wanted to prevent the book’s publish in June, but failed since advance copies had already been distributed to numerous media outlets.

However, U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth wrote in his ruling about Bolton, “He has exposed his country to harm and himself to civil (and potentially criminal) liability.”

The government noted in this week’s filing that Bolton was “repeatedly told that he could not publish the book absent written authorization, both before and after he submitted the manuscript for prepublication review,” but published his book anyway without being authorized to.

Bolton has alleged that he did not receive that written authorization and that he cleared his book with a senior NSC official.

Bolton has provoked outrage on the left for not testifying in the House impeachment hearing with what he knew about the administration’s handling of Ukraine, but also on the right for appearing to cash in on his controversial tenure in the Trump administration.

AG Barr Appoints Texan US Attorney To Review Obama Admin Unmaskings

Too much has been said on how the Democrats handled (or mishandled) this week’s hearing with AG Bill Barr, but it appears a significant moment has been largely overlooked.

Rep. Jim Jordan asked AG Barr for updates on the Justice Department’s ongoing investigations.

And Barr mentioned a new development that should have Obama’s old team worried:

Attorney General Barr disclosed Tuesday that he has directed John Bash, the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Texas, to investigate the “unmasking” of former national security adviser Michael Flynn…

Asked about the large number of people in government who were involved in Flynn’s unmasking, Barr told a surprised Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, the top ranked Republican on the House Judiciary Committee during a hearing Tuesday that he had assigned Bash to uncover them.

The Justice Department has been investigating the various Obama officials involved in cases against President Trump for some time now.

U.S. Attorney Durham has been investigating the original Russian probe that blew up into the Mueller probe. It was announced last year that the investigation has grown into a criminal investigation.

Rep. Jim Jordan asked about other ongoing investigations and AG Barr revealed that he has assigned another U.S. attorney to look into the unmasking of Michael Flynn.

Much of the problems former Trump staffer Flynn has experienced is the result of Obama officials unmasking his name during their wiretapping.

And while unmasking isn’t illegal, the subsequent leaking to the press is. As of today, there has been no official revelation of whom might have unmasked or leaked Flynn’s name to the media.

The mainstream media has used the Flynn case to “prove” that President Trump worked with Russia. Even though it has been argued that Flynn did nothing wrong during his talks with Russian ambassadors.

His case arose from him allegedly lying to the FBI. A claim Flynn later withdrew.

The DOJ, under Bill Barr, dropped the charges against Flynn. But apparently Obama-friendly judges continue to drag the case out.

John Bash will not be leading an investigation into who unmasked Flynn in the first place. Discovering who that was could lead to the person who leaked it to the press.

That might lead to other revelations, ones that Obama and his people prefer in the dark.
