Mitt Romney Grows A Spine – Stands Up For President Trump Against Impeachment Calls

Mitt Romney stunned CNN’s Jake Tapper today when he actually defended President Donald Trump. Tapper had Romney, a frequent Trump critic on his show and was ready to ambush Mitt.

A GOP rep from Michigan, Justin Amash, came out and said that President Trump should be impeached so Jake Tapper offered Mitt Romney the bait with which to burnish his anti-Trump credentials.

In a surprising turn of events, Mitt did not take the bait and didn’t trash President Trump but rather defended him. We need more of this Mitt in the future, not the Jeff Flake version.

The Federalist Papers reported that the Utah senator, and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, has come to the defense of President Trump on CNN.

Romney appeared on the “State Of The Union” when host Jake Tapper asked him about Republican Michigan Rep. Justin Amash’s call for the President’s impeachment.

“You and congressman Amash are the only two elected Republicans, I think, to express any misgivings about the behavior of the president or his campaign team based on the Mueller report.”

“First of all, are you surprised you two are the only ones that have really said anything condemning of the president’s behavior as laid out?” Tapper said.

“I think every individual has to make their own judgment. I think it helps to actually have read the entire document. It’s a long document. It took me two full days to get through it.” He continued.

“The second volume is more difficult to get through than the first. Hopefully more people read it. I think a lot of people want to reserve judgment until this is played out.”

“My own view is that Justin Amash has reached a different conclusion than I have. I respect him. I think it’s a courageous statement.”

“But I believe to make a case for obstruction of justice, you just don’t have the elements that are evidenced in this document.”

“And I also believe that an impeachment call is something that not just relates to the law but considers practicality and Politics.”

“I think those considering impeachment have to look at the jury, which is the Senate. The Senate is certainly not there either,” Romney said.

“You disagree for the call for impeachment. You don’t think this necessarily rises to the level of impeachable offenses. You don’t think there’s sufficient evidence the president obstructed justice?” Tapper said.

“I just don’t think there is the full element you need to prove an obstruction of justice I don’t think a prosecutor would actually look at this and say, okay, we have here all the elements that would get this to a conviction.”

“So, you know, everyone reaches their own conclusion. As I read the report, I was troubled by it. Was very disappointing for a number of reasons. But it did not suggest to me this was a time to call for impeachment,” Romney said.

“I think a number of things were unfortunate and distressing. Clearly the number of times there were items of dishonesty, misleading the American public and media are things you would not be want to see from the highest office in the land,” he added.

“Abuse of power is at a whole other level, which suggests impeachment. I think in part one of the things it’s difficult in order to make a case for obstruction of justice or impeachment is whether or not there was intent.”

“And when there’s not an underlying crime, I think it’s difficult to put together an effective case to prosecute for those crimes,” he said.

Joe Biden Takes Full Credit For U.S. Thriving Economy – Claims Trump Is ‘Squandering’ Obama’s Success

Former Vice President Joe Biden took full credit for the current U.S. economy, even claimed that President Trump is “squandering” their success.

As previously reported, the U.S. economy has been thriving since President Donald Trump took office. Women unemployment rates hit 49-year-lows also, Hispanic Americans, Black Americans, and veterans all seeing historically low rates.

Even though none of these accomplishments occurred during the administration of President Obama, Joe Biden still claimed that President Donald Trump “inherited” the economic success from the previous administration.

The former vice president went on to say that he thinks the President is “squandering” the successes of Obama’s administration.

“I know President Trump likes to take credit for the economy and the economic growth and the low unemployment numbers, but just look at the facts — not the alternative facts. President Trump inherited an economy from Obama-Biden administration that was given to him, just like he inherited everything else in his life. Just like everything else he’s been given in his life, he’s in the process of squandering that, as well.” Biden said.

Joe Biden may think that the Obama administration should be credited for our current economy, but many would argue that he is the one pushing “alternative facts.”

The Biden-Obama recovery following the 2008 recession was the slowest since World War II. Many economists have noted that former President Obama’s stimulus plan may have even slowed economic growth more than if he had just completely ignored the economy.

Even Obama himself claimed that the economic growth seen under President Donald Trump wasn’t possible. He claimed that 2% growth was the “new normal.” He mocked the notion that Donald Trump could get manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. He said the President would need a “magic wand” to make things like that happen.

Much to Joe Biden’s chagrin, President Trump seems to have found that “magic wand” because the U.S. economy has seen manufacturing jobs return, 4 percent job growth, and record low unemployment rates.

Comey Uses Quotes From Communist Leader Lenin As He Attacks AG Barr For ‘Sliming His Own Department’

On late Friday evening, former FBI Director James Comey took aim at Attorney General William Barr and President Donald Trump.

The former FBI Director began by attacking AG Barr and his investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia probe. “The AG should stop sliming his own Department,” James Comey tweeted.

“If there are bad facts, show us, or search for them professionally and then tell us what you found. An AG must act like the leader of the Department of Justice, an organization based on truth. Donald Trump has enough spokespeople.” He added.

The former FBI Director then turned to President Trump, accusing him of lying. “The president claiming the FBI’s investigation was ‘TREASON’ reminds me that a Russian once said, ‘A lie told often enough becomes the truth.’” Comey said.

“That shouldn’t happen in America. Who will stand up?” Former FBI Director James Comey asked in his post on Twitter, hoping that people will follow his lead in to further trashing the attorney general and the President.

The quotation, which former FBI Director Comey wrote came from “a Russian,” has actually been attributed to both Communist revolutionary Vladimir Lenin and Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.

It is funny that James Comey uses that phrase, “sliming his own department,” and like so many liberals he accuses other people of doing exactly what he did.

Kelsey Grammer Claims Trump Accomplished More Than The ‘Washington Clowns’ Have Done In More Than 50 Years

One of few Hollywood conservatives, Kelsey Grammer of THE TV show “Frasier,” is praising President Trump’s for doing more than all of the “Washington clowns” that have been his detractors did in 60 years.

As Newsbuster reported, Kelsey Grammer sat down with Christiane Amanpour on the PBS show “Amanpour and Company” on Tuesday night. The host asked if his outspoken conservatism has costed him in any way in such a left-wing bastion like Hollywood.

“Can I ask you, Kelsey, because we were talking obviously about today’s politics and it’s very divisive, very partisan, whether it’s in the United States, whether it’s here,” Amanpour began.

She continued: “You are one of those rare Hollywood beasts who is conservative, and you voted for Donald Trump. And I just wonder, what, whether you sort of took any hits in Hollywood for that? Did you feel that you were sort of marginalized?”

“I’m not aware of taking a hit for it but now, certainly passions run high, and certainly he has touched on an extraordinarily passionate response,” Grammer said. “I don’t know if it’s as serious or horrible as everybody wants it to be.”

As the interview went on, Amanpour pressed Kelsey Grammer on if he feels that the President has “disrupted” the social fabric. The actor responded by saying that the disruption is quite a good thing, adding that Washington has done little for people in the past 50 or even 60 years.

AMANPOUR: I was wondering whether you thought the sort of, many people believe this sort of fabric is being disrupted.

GRAMMER: Well I think fabric being disrupted is a good thing.

AMANPOUR: You do?

GRAMMER: Oh yeah. I don’t think Washington didn’t do us any favors for the last 50, 60 years, I think they’ve all been sort of the same party, the same bunch of clowns, the same bunch of really unpleasant people.

AMANPOUR: It’s politics.

GRAMMER: And I don’t think they’ve been helping anybody but themselves.

Amanpour asked Kelsey Grammer how people can reconcile with such divisions, citing both Brexit and the President. Kelsey Grammer stated that people will recover just fine because they have been through much worse.

AMANPOUR: What about people? Do you wonder, I mean here with Brexit, how can people sort of get back together again?

GRAMMER: I think the English people should be just fine because you know they’ve been through a lot worse.

AMANPOUR: And the American people?

GRAMMER: And the American people will be just fine, too. We’ve been through a lot worse.

Kelsey Grammer is not the only Hollywood conservative to praise President Trump for shaking up the pot and getting things done, so to speak.

Last year, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, actor Tim Allen stated that it took a special kind of person like Donald Trump to “get things done.”

“The theater of this is fascinating,” Allen claimed. “He doesn’t do it very attractively but you don’t even realize the economy is doing better. Is it? There’s so much drama. Maybe it took this type of guy to get stuff done because it was so stuck in the mud. I’m just watching the theater of it and trying to keep my personal opinions out of it. What difference does it make whether I like him?”

Marco Rubio Sides With The President – Asks AG Barr To Open Investigation Into Kerry’s Potential Law Violations With Iran

Sen. Marco Rubio wrote a letter to Attorney General Barr asking the Department of Justice to investigate potential legal violations by former Secretary of State John Kerry following President Trump‘s accusation that he violated the Logan Act by talking with Iranian officials after leaving the office.

On Monday, Marco Rubio, who sits on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, sent AG Barr a letter asking the DOJ to investigate former Secretary of State Kerry for potential violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act and the Logan Act.

John Kerry had talked to Iranian officials many times in attempts to keep the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action he negotiated in motion after President Trump backed out of it last year.

In his letter, Marco Rubio proclaimed that the Americans “deserve[d] to know” that laws will be enforced regardless of the previous positions held by those who try to break them. He continued and demanded that the DOJ “make a determination” on whether John Kerry broke the law.

“The American people deserve to know that U.S. laws are enforced regardless of any individual’s past position. The Department of Justice should therefore make a determination on whether or not former Secretary of State John F. Kerry’s recent actions related to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with Iran potentially violate the Logan Act or the Foreign Agents Registration Act.” Said Rubio.

Sen. Rubio also included the original letter that he sent to former Attorney General Jeff Sessions last year asking for an investigation into John Kerry.

The Logan Act makes it a crime for an American citizen to negotiate deals with a foreign government during international disputes with no federal approval.

FARA is described by the DOJ as “a disclosure statute that requires persons acting as agents of foreign principals in a political or quasi-political capacity to make periodic public disclosure of their relationship with the foreign principal, as well as activities, receipts and disbursements in support of those activities.”

As previously reported, President Trump accused John Kerry of violating the Logan Act while answering questions at the White House last week. President Trump added that John Kerry “should be prosecuted” for the alleged Logan Act violation.

Tom Cotton Steps Up – Fires a Shot In Support Of President Trump’s Big Move On ‘Fixing Broken Asylum System’

Tom Cotton is an impressive man with an immpresive resume. Born to middle-class parents in Arkansas he got to the top the hard way, by working his tail off.

As Cotton was to benefit from his hard work at all the top schools in America he did the unthinkable and joined the Army. Because of his Harvard law degree, they wanted him in JAG but he said no and joined the infantry.

Tom Cotton attended Harvard University as an undergraduate, and later returned to Harvard Law School, graduating in 2002. After that, he worked for Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. In 2005, he enlisted in the U.S. Army.

On January 11, 2005, Tom Cotton enlisted in the army. He declined offers to serve in the Army J.A.G. Corps and instead volunteered for the infantry. Cotton had resolved to serve as an Army infantryman in his third year of law school while watching live news coverage of the 9/11 attacks, and had begun a regimen of physical exercise and studying military history. In March 2005, he entered Officer Candidate School, and later in June was commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Infantry.

In May 2006, Tom Cotton was deployed to Baghdad as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a platoon leader with the 101st Airborne Division. In Iraq, he led a 41-man air assault infantry platoon in the 506th Infantry Regiment, and planned and performed daily combat patrols. In December 2006, he was promoted to First Lieutenant. He was assigned as a platoon leader for the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment at Arlington National Cemetery in Northern Virginia.

In October 2008, Tom was deployed to Afghanistan. Cotton was assigned within the Train Advise Assist Command – East at its Gamberi forward operating base in Laghman Province as the Operations Officer of a Provincial Reconstruction Team, where he planned daily counter-insurgency and reconstruction operations. His deployment ended on July 20, 2009 so he returned from Afghanistan. He then returned to farming at his family ranch.

In July 2010, Tom Cotton transferred to the Army Reserve. His military record shows his final discharge from the Army Reserve was in May 2013. Cotton was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and earned a Ranger Tab, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Air Assault Badge, and Iraq Campaign Medal.

As you can see, Tom Cotton is not your average weak, know nothing politician. He is an America hero, smarter than your average liberal.

That is exactly why leftists hate him that much. He went to all the top schools that they believe should only breed left-leaning individuals, but Tom went into the lion’s den and came out the winner.

Cotton can throw their arrogance right back at them when they question Trump’s and America’s decisions. We are by far the most generous nation in the history of the world and questioning that is a great disrespect.

The Free Beacon reported that Sen. Tom Cotton applauded President Trump’s proclamation concerning asylum for immigrants who illegally cross the Mexican border into America.

“I applaud the administration’s efforts to fix our broken asylum system. Individuals with valid asylum claims should apply in their home countries or a safe third country, not by showing up at our border. We will not let anyone take advantage of America’s generosity by exploiting loopholes in our immigration system. Congress should also act to codify these common-sense reforms,” Sen. Cotton said in a statement.

2020 Democrat Claims Trump Is ‘Failing’ To Keep America Safe – Insist That Venezuela’s Mess Is The President’s Fault

Congressman Seth Moulton claimed that President Trump is “failing” at keeping America safe as President of the United States.

Seth Moulton, who has served in the U.S. military, spoke with CNN host S.E. Cupp and told him that Democrats should have the authority when it regards national security and he hopes the issue will set him apart from the 20 other Democrats running for president.

On his Saturday night interview, Congressman Moulton stated that President Donald Trump is making America less safe and also told the American people that he would be a better President. He also claimed that several global problems — including the instability in Venezuela — is the President’s fault.

“The fact of the matter is that Trump is failing on these [national security] issues and you did a good — you provided a good summary. His best friend in North Korea is firing off missiles, Iran is talking about restarting its nuclear program and threatening our allies in the region. Venezuela is in chaos after the administration’s failed coup and farmers and families are hurting here at home in America because of this tariff war with China. We have got to take him on on these issues. Frankly, they’re where Trump is weak and that’s why we have to take him on — not just in his job as president but in his job as commander-in-chief.” He said.

Moulton explained that he had several issues with Trump’s foreign policy. He claimed the President was North Korean Chairman Kim Jong Un’s “best friend,” despite President Trump’s elevating sanctions on North Korea. Molten ignored the success that came from the North Korean summit, including the return of captured American prisoners and the remains of American veterans who died during the Korean War.

Congressman Moulton also stated that the chaos in Venezuela is Trump’s fault, calling the overthrow of Dictator Nicolas Maduro a “failed coup.” The Congressman ignored the fact that Maduro is a brutal dictator who rigged the elections and was only ousted because the democratically-elected national assembly followed the Venezuelan constitution and called for the election to be redone and placed assembly leader Juan Guaido as interim-president.

Congressman Moulton claimed that Democrats are better on these issues.

“You know, for too long the Republican Party has tried to own issues of security, of strength, of patriotism, of what makes America safe. And Trump is not doing a good job. He’s failing on every one of those measures, but we’ve got to provide leadership on the democratic side of aisle to show how we will make America strong and safe and secure in the world ahead. That’s exactly what I’m doing. We have to be able to lead on these issues if we’re going to win this election” he said.

While Congressman Moulton was quick to throw Republicans under the bus on foreign policy, he refused to explain how the Dems were better at it. Under President Obama, Russia meddled in U.S. elections, Syria got away with crossing a “red line” by using chemical weapons, and the early pull-out of Iraq created ISIS — who Obama referred to as the “J.V. team” before they started beheading Americans.

From the looks of his campaign staff, Moulton seems to be following Ex-President Obama’s footsteps when it comes to foreign policy. Reports say that he just hired Obama-era national security strategist Marie Harf.

Nadler Gets Called Out To Recuse Himself From Probing Trump After Reports Reveal Where His Son Works

House Judiciary Committee chair Jerry Nadler, one of the key congressional Democrats investigating President Trump over alleged obstruction of justice, appears to have a conflict of interest.

Jerry Nadler’s son, Michael L. Nadler, works as an associate attorney for Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, a law firm based in New York that has repeatedly sued the Trump administration on behalf of other people.

Last November the firm sued Trump’s administration on behalf of CNN after the White House suspended CNN chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta’s press pass.

One month later the firm sued the Trump administration on behalf of the Center for Reproductive Rights after the State Department reportedly made changes to its regularly issued human rights reports.

(Screenshot)

Two years ago one of the firm’s lawyers, Theodore J. Boutrous, Jr., the co-chair of the firm’s litigation group, filed his own lawsuit against the president after Trump ended the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

“Los Angeles attorney Ted Boutrous has been itching for a courtroom battle with President Donald Trump. Now, he’s got it,” Minnesota Lawyer, an independent newspaper for the legal industry, reported at the time, describing Boutrous as “Trump’s legal nemesis.”

“Boutrous sued Trump on Monday on behalf of six program participants, most of whom came from Mexico before they were 10. Trump’s decision to end the program in six months is a ‘cruel bait and switch’ motivated by an ‘unconstitutional bias against Mexicans,’ according to the complaint.”

Boutrous also has a history of slamming President Trump on Twitter:

Three years ago, during the 2016 presidential election, he offered to provide pro bono services to President Trump’s enemies, including the women who accused him of sexual assault.

“It’s chilling that a powerful person can sue you, even though at the end of the day he might lose the case,” he said at the time to The Global Legal Post. “If people know there’s a support network, then they can make their own decision about coming forward.”

The outlet confirmed that “25 other Gibson Dunn lawyers” had also offered the same. Their shared concern was that Trump’s threats to sue his accusers for defamation would scare other accusers from coming forward with their own admittedly oftentimes dubious accusations.

Despite this glaring anti-Trump history, Nadler’s own son works for this law firm.

According to a source from Washington who spoke with BigLeague Politics, the outlet responsible for outing Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s blackface photos, Nadler’s son obtained the job in 2018, which was the same year that Democrats won control of the House.

“His son (Michael Nadler) got a job with Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP in 2018,” the source said. “That’s convenient because Jerry Nadler and the Democrats just won control of the House in 2018. Gibson Dunn & Crutcher hire Jerry’s son and Gibson Dunn & Crutcher are the main nemesis against Trump and the Trump Administration on numerous lawsuits.”

“Now the Nadler family will gain access to thousands of Trump documents via Jerry’s subpoenas!”

“Such an arrangement — Jerry Nadler investigating Trump with his son’s firm trying to get access to documents in other cases — violates ethics rules for federal investigators,” BLP notes.

Nadler has been desperately seeking as much information about the president as possible since at least 2017, a year before he was up for reelection again.

Not surprisingly, ever since he became the House Judiciary Committee in January, he’s been pursuing the same agenda, issuing subpoena after subpoena against the White House.

While it’s unclear how this conflict of interest will affect Nadler’s work, some believe he should resign from his position:

Pelosi Sends A Warning To Democrats That Trump Won’t ‘Respect’ Losing 2020 Election & May Refuse To Leave Office

Rep. Nancy Pelosi says she is warning her fellow Democrats that if President Trump is not defeated by a sizable margin in the 2020 presidential elections that he won’t respect the outcome and may refuse to leave office.

Mediaite reported that the newly crowned Speaker of the House has also been warning her colleagues to remain moderate on the campaign trail so that they don’t “play into Trump’s hands” and accidentally verify the Presidents claims that Democrats intend to move the country toward socialism.

“If we win by four seats, by a thousand votes each, he’s not going to respect the election,” Nancy Pelosi told The New York Times in a interview published on Sunday, adding that she had the same concerns before the 2018 election, when the Dems retook the House of Representatives.

“He would poison the public mind. He would challenge each of the races; he would say you can’t seat these people,” Pelosi told the NYT. “We had to win. Imagine if we hadn’t won — oh, don’t even imagine. So, as we go forward, we have to have the same approach.”

Pelosi also added that she and the Dems believe they have to “inoculate” against the possibility that “Mr. Trump would not give up power voluntarily if he lost re-election.”

Part of Pelosi’s strategy of “inoculation” involves convincing her fellow Democrats that impeachment is not the best way for challenging President Trump in Congress. Instead, she believes the Dems should focus more on making the 2020 elections a referendum on Trump’s performance and his culpability in obstructing Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into whether the President’s campaign colluded with Russia to alter the outcome of the 2016 election.

“Do not get dragged into a protracted impeachment bid that will ultimately get crushed in the Republican-controlled Senate, and do not risk alienating the moderate voters who flocked to the party in 2018 by drifting too far to the left,” she suggests, as the NYT reported.

Nancy Pelosi’s remarks are surprising to both Democrats and Republicans. Democrats are anticipating the 2020 race to be between members of the party’s far-left progressive wing, and not between moderates representing the center-left.

Progressive activists are desperately pushing the Democratic party to nominate Sen. Bernie Sanders as a way of “making up” for the socialist candidate’s defeat in 2016. And even though the moderate former Vice President Joe Biden is in the lead, there is a visible effort to derail his potential campaign.

Republicans may be surprised to learn that the Dems, including Nancy Pelosi, are still operating under the delusion that President Trump is the most likely candidate to refuse to accept the election results, particularly given that former Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton is still re-litigating the 2016 election, and that key Democratic candidates, like former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, are refusing to accept election results.

Hillary Clinton, for example, told a Los Angeles audience on Saturday that she believes she was robbed of the presidency back in 2016.

Of course, Hillary Clinton didn’t “run the best campaign,” not even by Democratic standards. She managed to skip several key states, like Michigan and Wisconsin, where faulty internal polling showed her far ahead. As a result, she failed to get the number of Electoral College votes needed to solidify a victory.

Last week Abrams told an audience that she wasn’t governor of Georgia “yet,” despite losing the state by more than 50,000 votes.

Ronald Reagan’s Daughter Blasts GOP – Claims President ‘Trump Speaks Of Immigrants As If They Are Trash’

Patti Davis, Ronald Reagan’s daughter, the notorious “rebellious First Daughter” who posed for Playboy twice, has issued a blistering rebuke of the GOP at The Washington Post for going along with President Donald Trump’s agenda.

“Dear Republicans: Stop using my father, Ronald Reagan, to justify your silence on Trump,” was the article’s headline as it went on to blast the GOP for holding up her father as “an icon of conservatism” while using “the quotes of his that serve your purpose at any given moment.”

“Yet at this moment in America’s history when the democracy to which my father pledged himself and the Constitution that he swore to uphold, and did faithfully uphold, are being degraded and chipped away at by a sneering, irreverent man who traffics in bullying and dishonesty, you stay silent,” Davis said in the article, as the HuffPost reported.

The Hill reported that Davis then reminded the GOP that Reagan stated that America was a home for everyone. “Perhaps you’ve forgotten that my father Reagan said America was home ‘for all the pilgrims from all the lost places who are hurtling through the darkness,'” she wrote before questioning why Republicans are afraid of President Trump, whom she describes as “an overgrown child who resorts to name-calling.”

“But if that is the case, then my response is: You are grown men and women,” she wrote. “Get over it.”

Davis went on to accuse the President of speaking of immigrants as trash, citing the time Trump’s administration separated migrant children from their parents at the border with Mexico, omitting that the Obama administration kept children in cages as a “deterrent.”

“You stay silent when President Trump speaks of immigrants as if they are trash, rips children from the arms of their parents and puts them in cages,” Davis continued, advising the GOP to become a party that “holds tightly to my father’s legacy.”

“If you are going to stand silent as America is dismantled and dismembered, as democracy is thrown onto the ash heap of yesterday, shame on you,” concluded Davis. “But don’t use my father’s name on the way down.”

Patti Davis has criticized President Trump many times throughout his presidency, often using her father as a counter-example. Last year, she went as far to say that former President Ronald Reagan would not even recognize Donald Trump’s America.

“He would be appalled and heartbroken at a Congress that refuses to stand up to a president who not only seems ignorant of the Constitution but who also attempts at every turn to dismantle and mock our system of checks and balances,” she wrote at the time.

“He would plead with Americans to recognize that the caustic, destructive language emanating from our current president is sullying the dream that America once was,” she added. “And in a time of increased tensions in the world, playing verbal Russian roulette is not leadership, it’s madness.”
