Democratic Leaders Are Suing To Stop President Trump From Funding The Southern Border Wall Construction

On Thursday, Democratic leaders voted to file a lawsuit against President Trump’s emergency declaration. They hope the move will block the billions in funding the President’s accessed for border wall construction.

“The President’s sham emergency declaration and unlawful transfers of funds have undermined our democracy, contravening the vote of the bipartisan Congress, the will of the American people and the letter of the Constitution,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said following the vote.

On Thursday the Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group, a five-member board that controls the House of Representatives’ general counsel, voted 3-2 to authorize a lawsuit against President Trump’s emergency declaration.

Their lawsuit claims that President Trump violated the Constitution’s Appropriations Clause, which gives lawmakers in Congress the authority to control funding measures.

This vote fell strictly along party lines, with Pelosi, Majority Leader Whip Jim Clyburn and Majority Steny Hoyer voting for it, and Minority Leader Steve Scalise and Minority Whip Kevin McCarthy voting against it.

“The President’s action clearly violates the Appropriations Clause by stealing from appropriated funds, an action that was not authorized by constitutional or statutory authority,” Nancy Pelosi continued in her statement. “Congress, as Article I — the first branch, co-equal to the other branches — must reassert its exclusive responsibilities reserved by the text of the Constitution and protect our system of checks and balances.”

This is not the first time congressional Dems have tried to block the emergency declaration, nor is their first lawsuit.

Both chambers of Congress, with the help of some GOP support, were able to pass a resolution that condemned the President’s emergency crisis. However, in the first veto of his presidency, Trump struck it down. Lawmakers weren’t able to obtain a two-thirds majority in Congress to override the veto.

President Trump’s declaration has also been challenged in court from a many of state attorneys general, led by California. A bunch of progressive and environmental groups are trying to fight the proclamation in the courtroom as well.

After accepting the 1.375 billion dollars in funds Congress appropriated for border wall construction in February, the President declared an emergency on the southern border, authorizing billions more in funding from the military’s budget. Pentagon has already authorized the Army Corps of Engineers to shift $1 billion to the southern border wall.

When the President originally made his crisis declaration, he predicted it would face a lawsuit that would eventually make its way to the Supreme Court.

“We will have a national emergency, and then we will then be sued, and they will sue us in the 9th Circuit, even though it shouldn’t be there,” President Trump stated back in February. “And we will possibly get a bad ruling, and then we’ll get another bad ruling. And then we’ll end up in the Supreme Court, and hopefully, we’ll get a fair shake.”

Chicago PD Chiefs Made An ‘Unheard Of’ Move To Vote No Confidence In State Attorney

After multiple issues with Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, the Chicago police union has gathered together and formed a unified voice to demand her resignation.

This Thursday, during a press conference, the Fraternal Order of Police and 30 Chicago police departments stated the issues they are currently dealing with. While Foxx’s office deciding to drop all charges against Jussie Smollett was a factor, the Fraternal Order of Police President Kevin Graham said that this is a dangerous pattern that should be terminated.

“This isn’t just about Jussie Smollett,” said Graham. “This is about many cases in the Cook County system that have gone un-prosecuted or having charges reduced.”

Jack Touhy spoke for the south suburban police association and claimed that the gathering of police was unusual and showed how serious their intentions are about their calls for resignation.

“This is pretty unheard of, that the chiefs associations are getting together this tightly from across Cook County to address this issue,” said Touhy. “We do talk on occasion. We do have things that we do through the Illinois chiefs. But on a Cook County level, this is unheard of.”

Shepard Smith read from the letter sent to the state’s attorney, announcing that they had issued a vote of “no confidence” against her.

“The abrupt dropping of the 16 indictments against the ‘Empire’ actor Jussie Smollett during an unannounced court hearing on March 26 is the latest and most egregious example of the failure by you and your staff to hold offenders accountable,” said Smith.

In a statement released Thursday, however, Kim Foxx stated that she’s proud of her record and will not step down.

“I was elected by the people of Cook County to pursue community safety, prevent harm, and uphold the values of fairness and equal justice,” Foxx said in the statement. “I’m proud of my record in doing that, and I plan to do so through the end of my term and, if the people so will it, into the future.”

The charges surrounding Jussie Smollett are currently being investigated by the FBI, and he’s also facing a lawsuit for failing to pay the city for the costs of the investigation.

GOP Rep Slams The Democrats For ‘Politicizing Americas Tax System’ With Their ‘Disturbing’ Request For President’s Tax Returns

This Thursday during an interview, Republican Representative Rob Woodall fired back at Democrats who made requests for six years of President Trump’s tax returns.

The GOP representative and member of the House Budget Committee stated that a president shouldn’t be forced to release his tax records.

“We’re politicizing the tax system,” Woodall stated during an interview with Hill.TV. “Presidents have never been forced to release it, they volunteered to release those tax returns.”

Woodall also pointed out that the Ways and Means Committee is using their power to make calculated political moves.

“To see what the Ways and Means Committee is doing, now to use its article one power to weaponize the tax code is really disturbing,” he said.

Rep. Richard Neal previously requested President Trump’s tax returns. “The Ways and Means Committee, in particular, has a responsibility to conduct oversight of our voluntary Federal tax system and determine how Americans — including those elected to our highest office — are complying with those laws,” said Neal in a statement.

His move prompted Republicans to speak out against the request.

“Weaponizing our nation’s tax code by targeting political foes sets a dangerous precedent and weakens Americans privacy right,” Rep. Kevin Brady claimed. “As you know, all Americans have a fundamental right to the privacy of the personal information found in their tax returns.”

Woodall however, hopes that the issue will be something that will be resolved quickly and that the committee will continue to work on other important topics.

“I hope it is just a sign of this first quarter outrage and that we’ll quickly move past that and get into the things the Ways and Means Committee needs to be working on, like trade, like tax policy, like healthcare,” said Woodall.

There’s still no official date for when the IRS Commissioner will make his decision on releasing the returns, but the Treasury Department is already considering fighting the request in court.

States Sue Trump’s Administration Over New Changes To Obama-Era School Meal Standards

On Wednesday, several states, including the District of Columbia, filed a complaint against President Trump’s administration over the changes to school lunch standards they argue could deny “30 million students access to healthy nutritious meals.”

New York, California, Illinois, New Mexico, Minnesota and Vermont were the states that filed the suit against the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Agriculture Food and Nutritional Service and Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue.

In the complaint they argued that Trump administration’s Department of Agriculture (USDA) “significantly weakened” the federal standards and didn’t give the “public notice of and an opportunity to comment on the 2018 changes.”

“By gutting the whole-grain standards and halting the progress in reducing sodium, the Trump administration risks stymieing [sic] this great progress and denying 30 million students access to healthy nutritious meals,” New York Attorney General Letitia James said at a news conference on Wednesday, as The Wall Street Journal reported.

The 2012 Obama-era rule, advocated by former first lady Michelle Obama, limited sodium intake and increased whole grains served in meal at schools.

“If kids aren’t eating the food, and it’s ending up in the trash, they aren’t getting any nutrition – thus undermining the intent of the program,” Perdue said, according to a 2017 press release.

The National School Lunch Program is a federally assisted program that provides students with healthy meals during the day at little to no cost in schools, according to USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service.

“The Trump Administration has undermined key health benefits for our children — standards for salt and whole grains in school meals — with deliberate disregard for science, expert opinion, and the law,” James said in a statement.

A study from 2014 questioned the government’s assumption regarding low sodium content, however.

“There is no longer any valid basis for the current salt guidelines,” McMaster University professor and one of the study’s authors Andrew Mente said for The Washington Post. “So why are we still scaring people about salt?”

Liberal advocacy groups Center for Science in the Public Interest and Healthy School Food Maryland also filed a similar complaint against this administration’s loosened standards, TheWSJ reported.

The USDA told The Daily Caller News Foundation that it doesn’t comment on pending litigation.

Nearly 300 Arrested In Surprise ICE Operation At Texas Tech Company

Nearly 300 workers were arrested after Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials raided a tech company in Allen, Texas, on Wednesday.

The operation took place at CVE Technology Group, a company that repairs cell phones and electronics. The building is located on Enterprise Drive, near the Central Expressway.

280 CVE employees were arrested in total for administrative immigration violations. They will be interviewed by ICE officials to determine who will remain in custody and who will qualify for humanitarian release.

“As far as immigration related arrests, this is the largest ICE worksite operation at one site in the last 10 years,” said Special Agent in Charge Katrina W. Berger, HSI Dallas.

Officials stated that the investigation began back in January after ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations received a tip that the Allen-based company was knowingly hiring undocumented immigrants who were using fraudulent documents.

“As far as immigration arrests, this is the largest at one site in 10 years,” said Katrina Berger, Special Agent in Charge with HSI Dallas.

Mariela Ortega was one of the workers, she has documentation to work in the United States legally and was cleared by the ICE agents Wednesday. Mariela was inside the business when hundreds of agents stormed in.

“People say, ‘Immigration! Immigration!’” Mariela Ortega recalled. “And all coworkers started running.”

Dan Crenshaw Gives Bernie Sanders a Lesson After He Shamed Republicans

The funny thing about tweeting out easily digestible talking points. They can usually be debunked with also easily digestible tweets.

Bernie Sanders learned this when he tried shaming people for not supporting Medicare for All. He felt the burn at the hands of one of our greatest congressman, Rep. Dan Crenshaw. Who basically responded with “LOLWUT?” Only in nicer, more thoughtful manner.

“Oh this is an easy one.” posted Crenshaw. “Because your plan costs $32 trillion, and bankrupts my generation.”

“It takes away private employer plans from tens of millions of Americans.” he added. “But at least you recognize that Obamacare has not worked. We need more freedom and choice, not less.”

If we set aside health policy for an instant. All it does is make us think about how difficult Obamacare has made life for loved ones. The smartest thing Rep. Dan Crenshaw did, and it’s something I’ve seen him do many times before, is frame his argument as “our generation.”

They way the left-wing sell their policies to young people is as existential, systematic crises that will specifically affect THEIR generation. While on our side people are more focused on their grandparents yelling at the TV when someone turned off Fox News and they can’t find the remote.

Crenshaw speaks specifically for his generation. The Millennials. The voters we need to convince that our policies are right, and leftist policies are just silly.

As the other side talks to their generation about giving them lots of free stuff, it helps when we have people on our side reminding HIS generation how much the free stuff will cost them.

DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen Claims Border Smugglers Are Operating ‘Child Recycling Rings’

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen explained Tuesday how human smugglers are operating “child recycling rings” to thwart United States Customs and Border Protection.

During her appearance on Fox News’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Nielsen spoke about the escalating border crisis that is presenting new problems and demanding a variety of defensive measures.

The DHS secretary claimed that human “smugglers are more active than ever before” at our southern border and they have come up with a new tactic to promote illegal immigration.

“We’ve broken up child recycling rings — if you can believe it — in the last couple of months, which is where smugglers pick up a child, they give it to adults to present themselves as a family once they get over — because, as you know, we can only hold families for 20 days — they send the child back and bring the child back with another family. Another fake family” she explained.

She also stated that President Trump “will take ever action within his authority to stop this flow.” Nielsen has previously discussed the child recycling rings in a report for the Daily Caller back in March.

The DHS secretary described the majority of the illegals that are claiming asylum at the border as “economic refugees” as she reminded viewers that crossing the United States border illegally “is a crime.”

Nielsen stated that the Trump administration is considering remedies like closing the southern border and revoking birthright citizenship: “All of this is on the table,” she told Fox.

The secretary also criticized “a lot of court decisions” that she claims do not fully comprehend the border crisis, which she said, “In my opinion, right now, this is one of, if not the biggest, crisis this country has faced in a decade.”

Trump Complains About The U.S. Immigration System:’The Worst, Dumbest System In The World’

As he moves closer to the southern border, President Trump opens up and calls the United States’s immigration policy “the worst, dumbest immigration system in the world.”

On Tuesday, the President was describing what he believes to be a border crisis on our border with Mexico, as The Hill reported.

President Trump has repeatedly warned that he intends to close the border with Mexico if the country continues to do nothing to curb the influx of migrants that are storming the southern border, causing a “breaking point,” according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials.

The President detailed to reporters how he sees that immigration system working when would-be refugees cross the border and ask for asylum.

“If they touch your land, one foot on your land — welcome to being Perry Mason, you now have a big trial,” he said.

President Trump insisted that doesn’t work.

“So what they’ve done over the years is that they release [the refugees] into the United States and they say ‘Come back in four years for a trial’ and nobody comes back … on average one to two percent come back and nobody can understand why they come back,” Trump said. “They’re the only ones that come back.”

Just last week, the Department of Defense announced that it had authorized up to $1 billion to begin construction of 57 miles of a border wall.

San Juan Mayor Slams President Trump Calling Him ‘Heartless, Vengeful, Willing To Let People Starve & Die’

On Tuesday, Puerto Rico Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, who has been harshly critical of President Donald Trump’s rhetoric and actions involving Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, hurled out her vitriol again as she spoke on MSNBC with host Nicole Wallace, calling the President the “Faker-in-Chief,” intimating that he discriminates, and snapping that he “is heartless … vengeful …” and “willing to let people starve, to let people die.”

Wallace commented: “You had paper towels tossed in the faces of your citizens and your constituents. Does anything shock you any more from this president?”

San Juan’s Mayor Carmen Cruz: “It still continues to shock me.”

Wallace, laughing, “Me too!”

“It still continues to shock the people of Puerto Rico. Just when you think he has gone the lowest he could go, he still goes lower than that … he’s become a fake news cartoon … Mr. President, 3,000 Puerto Ricans died on your watch. They died because your government was inefficient, ineffective, unable to do its job … his vanity is much higher than his humanity is … he continues to embarrass himself; he continues to embarrass the office of the presidency … with all the lies he has put together he has become the “Faker-in-Chief.”” Cruz continued.

Wallace asked: “You are trying to put together an island; you are trying to keep people together. You’ve described a very dire circumstance, with suicide rates going up, you’ve described 3,000 people who’ve lost their lives. What do you need from the federal government today?”

Cruz then ignited into a rant: “We need the President to be able to put his ego aside and do his job. We need the President to not hold aid as a weapon and weaponize it, which is something he criticizes from other countries. We need the Congress of the United States to hear the call of the people not only of Puerto Rico but of other places that have been really dealing with very difficult situations coming from disasters that are a result of climate change.”

“But most of all, we need the President to develop a heart. This man is heartless. This man is vengeful. This man racially discriminates against people that are not like him, and he is willing to let people starve, to let people die. So we need the American people to get on the phone, call your senators, call your Congresspeople, and let them know that the situation in Puerto Rico is not as it was before, thank God, but we still need a lot of help to stand up and move forward and we need the American people to understand that there’s a difference between the money that we needed to pick up debris and to deal with the immediate aftermath, and the money, the Community Development Block Grant DR, the Disaster and Relief Fund. $1.5 billion would still have not hit the cities of San Juan or any other of the 77 additional municipalities. But mostly we need the President to stop lying, to stand up, to assume responsibility, and to have the courage to say, look, I haven’t done right by Puerto Rico. I’m going to start today.”

Back in June 2018, Cruz accused the President Trump’s administration of looking away “from its legal imperative and violating the human rights of the people of Puerto Ricco.”

“There’s a moral imperative and a legal imperative. It is clear the Trump administration has looked away from its legal imperative. But where the government has failed, the American people have risen to the occasion. We have continued to have volunteers come in … Look, President Trump tweets about the crack of dawn and he hasn’t even tweeted one time to say look, I mourn with the people of Puerto Rico. So this total neglect has to be called upon. The United Nations says that when people are denied their right to access to basic human services—like electric power, like water, like food, like appropriate medical care—that it is a violation of human rights.”” she said on MSNBC.

In October 2017, Mediate reported that, after the President tweeted that Puerto Rico will not receive federal aid “forever” and that the island was a “disaster” before Hurricane Maria hit, Cruz appeared on CNN with host Don Lemon and stated that Trump had a “big mouth.”

“We have paid our dues, and there are American citizens here in Puerto Rico. This is a nation. There’s a big disconnect between the big heart of the volunteers and the people that are here working on the ground and, frankly, the big mouth of the President of the United States. It continues to add insult to injury.” she said.

‘Mohawk’ Leftist Brags About Chasing Elderly Trump Supporter Out Of Starbucks – Instantly Regrets It

The latest example of low-information leftist reacting to what they see on mainstream media was seen in a Palo Alto, California, Starbucks, where a woman with an affinity for Mohawks took to Facebook to boast about confronting an elderly man wearing a MAGA hat.

Luckily, a social media user by the name “Amy,” who turned the tables on the unhinged woman, this story has a positive ending.

Calling the elderly man a “freak,” the post from the account Parker Mankey declared that he “will never forget me and will think seriously about wearing that hat in my town ever again.”

“I yelled at him. Called the entire Starbucks to order and yelled at him more about how it is not ok to hate brown people,” she said. “He threatened to call the cops. I left after yelling at him some more.”

Mankey, a self described progressive Democrat, explained that she verbally attacked the senior man more than once.

“I went back in and yelled that I had changed my mind and wanted him to call the police because I wanted to know his name, where he lived, his wife’s name, and where his kids went to school,” the Facebook post claimed.

She also stated that she called on other white people to denounce the man, while explaining that it was their “duty.” No one joined in, off-course.

Her Facebook account seems to be taken down at the moment, but here is a screen-shot of the post.

And just to be clear, Mankey was going savage on the man in the comments section.

In the end, instead of the elderly an wearing a MAGA hat, Mankey found herself unemployed because of her antics.

She was an accountant for Gryphon Stringed Instruments, a music store that has been in Ventura for more than 40 years, Palo Alto Online reported.

The company posted a message on it’s Facebook page on Tuesday saying, “With regard to the aforementioned incident on 4/1/19; the employee in question has been terminated. Gryphon does not believe anyone should be harassed or subject to hate speech no matter their beliefs.”
